Ask your assistant to watch a competitor’s pricing page and tell you when it changes, without opening the console.

Setup

Connect the MCP server first, see setup for the full .mcp.json block.

What you’ll do

  • Create a monitor on a URL with a schedule
  • Choose Discord, Slack or a webhook for notification
  • List existing monitors to check what is already being watched

Example exchange

“Watch https://competitor.example/pricing every hour and post to our #competitors Slack channel if it changes.” The assistant calls outcrawl_monitor_create with the URL, a schedule, and the Slack target. It answers with the monitor’s id, for example something like “Monitor created, checking hourly, will post to #competitors on a real change.” “What am I currently watching?” The assistant calls outcrawl_monitor_list and summarizes each monitor’s URL, schedule and last check status.

What it can’t do

Notifications are not retried. If the Slack endpoint is briefly unreachable when a change fires, that one notification is lost, though the change itself stays readable afterward from the monitor’s own list entry.
